Congratulations to Kayla Sidwell, Globe University – Green Bay’s June Student of the Month! Kayla is in the veterinary technology program and her favorite parts of the program are Animal Care Duty and the hands-on aspects of class where she can physically practice the skills she is learning. She was nominated for having a very strong work ethic and dedication to her education and future, for always looking to be proactive in her
planning, and always being very welcoming to other students.

Kayla received a certificate, was featured on a Kayla2bulletin board on campus, and best of all – received a front-row parking spot for the entire month.

Learn more about Kayla and her experience in the veterinary technology program below:

Why did you choose the vet tech program?

I chose the vet tech program because I wanted to incorporate my love for animals and my career. I knew that this could allow me to have something to look forward to every day that I go to my job!

Why did you choose Globe University?

I chose Globe University because it was the closest program to where I live, and I was interested in the small classes along with the year-round program.

Favorite part of the program?

My favorite part of the program would have to be ACD as well as the hands-on work we do in class. I am able to physically use some of our skills that I have learned so far in the program and do the things that I enjoy.

Most interesting thing you have learned during your time here at Globe?

The most interesting thing that I have learned at Globe is how many different parasites are around us, and how many are able to transfer their way to us!

What do you want potential students to know about Globe/Vet Tech Program/going back to school in general?

I would tell them that the staff and instructors here at Globe University are incredible. They truly care about everyone’s education and future, and they do their best to help in any way that they are able to.

What do you do to stay motivated?

I stay motivated by looking at a quote that I have on my refrigerator which states “Never give up.”

Who are your biggest supporters with school and why?

My biggest supporters when it comes to school would be my family and my boyfriend. They have stood beside me since the day I decided to return to school and have given me that extra confidence that I needed to achieve my goals.

What are you most proud of so far academically?

I am most proud of getting on the honor roll fall quarter because I remember struggling but not giving up!

What has been your biggest challenge?

My biggest challenge so far has been staying focused on my school work while going through a difficult pregnancy.

What do you do for fun?

I enjoy spending time with my family, laying around with my cats, taking my pups to the dog park and going on walks!

If you could spend 24 hours with anyone, who would it be and why?

If I could spend 24 hours with anyone it would be my late grandfather. I would want him to see how far I have come and to hear him say that he is proud!

Favorite quote:

“Believe in yourself and all that you are. Know that there is something inside you that is greater than any obstacle,” – Christian D. Larson
